In 2022 I participated in the Energy Futures Print Portfolio, organized by the Energy Futures Lab and Eveline Kolijn. This project invited Alberta artists and writers to collaborate to create work about the energy transition in Alberta. This is an 11x17 silk screen print in an edition of 25. The ‘We Can Create a Future for Alberta in Which No Person is Left Behind’ is the closing phrase in the article In Lieu of Lightbulbs: A Look at Energy Poverty in Alberta by Yasmin Abraham and Emma Gammans which my writer collaborator Alexis Kienlen and I drew from for the project. I created all of the imagery for this print by carving linoleum blocks, which I then hand printed and scanned. I digitally arranged the imagery, exposed the digital printout to a silkscreen, and produced the final edition as silkscreen prints. The project was published into a book, REIMAGINING FIRE: The Future of Energy.
In the fall of 2022, I took a silk screen class at SNAP. These are two silk screen prints I created in that course. I was experimenting with turning my drawings and block prints into silk screen prints. The text for We Are All Woven Together Tighter Than We Can Possibly Imagine, is a line from a poem written by my sister, Gabrielle Gelderman.
